Street Style...Though it’s frigid and most showgoers are bundled up in New York this week, there’s something about a strong coat and cold-weather accessories that makes every look remind you of a particular era. On day one alone, Phil Oh spotted Amelia Earhart’s modern counterpart, dashing through the wind in leather pilot pants and a camel hat with ear flaps, a chartreuse coat worn with sunlit fringe and a pair of ivory sunglasses—showing us what Jean Shrimpton would have looked like hopping over a pile of ice—and some ’90s-esque cool kids hanging around in Kenzo coats with platform sneakers, ribbed sweaters, and chains. Winter style tells a story, and i can’t wait to see what the rest of Fashion Month has in store.Mother Nature vs. fashionistas Mother Nature is picking a fight with the fashionistas. She has thrown snow, slippery sludge and harsh cold winds their way, but fashion lovers are coming out armed in their furs, knits and even miniskirts.Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is back at Lincoln Center for a select few. The crowd is smaller, and the ambiance calmer and more refined, as organizers strive to restore the event's exclusive reputation by limiting the number of invitations and sending them only to the elite. "How you present it is as much of a trend as what you're actually showing," said Jarrad Clark, vice president and global creative director for IMG Fashion, which produces Fashion Week.
